High jump is an athletics event where athletes jump over a bar. Knowing the styles and officials’ roles is key.

Rules and Regulations in High Jump:

High jump events are governed by specific rules to ensure fair competition. The following are some of these rules:

  1. Jump from one foot only.
  2. Clear the bar without knocking it down.
  3. Three attempts per height.
  4. Height increases progressively.
  5. Time limit for each jump.
  6. Athletes must adhere to the judge’s instructions.
  7. No walking backward on the runway.

Basic Styles in High Jump:

High jump involves various techniques to clear the bar efficiently. These include:

  1. The Sail: Jumpers run at an angle and sail over the bar.
  2. The Hang: Jumpers hang in the air to clear the bar.
  3. The Hitch Kick: Jumpers kick one leg up for balance.
  4. Scissors: Jumpers use a scissor-like leg motion to clear the bar.
  5. Fosbury flop: Jumpers go over the bar head first,with their back to the bar.
  6. Landing: Land on a soft mat.
  7. Recovery: Get up quickly and leave the area.

Officials in High Jump:

Officials play crucial roles in ensuring fair play and accurate measurements in high jump competitions. They are:
