Physical fitness is the ability to do everyday activities without getting tired easily. It involves many aspects of health and exercise.
Components of physical Fitness
Physical fitness comprises various elements that contribute to overall well-being and the ability to perform physical activities effectively.These include:
The following are components of physical fitness:
- Agility: Moving quickly and easily.
- Power: Exerting maximum effort quickly.
- flexibility: Stretching and bending easily.
- Balance: Staying upright or in control of movement.
- Endurance: Sustaining physical effort for a long time.
- Coordination: Moving body parts smoothly together.
- speed: Moving quickly over a distance.
- Cardiovascular Endurance: The ability of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen to muscles during exercise.
- Body Composition: The proportion of fat, muscle, and bone in the body.
Components of Physical Fitness
Physical fitness is the ability to perform daily work and physical activity effectively without unnecessary tiredness. Building on the Primary 5 lesson on fitness components, health-related components include cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and body composition. Skill-related components include speed, power, balance, agility, coordination and reaction time.
A balanced programme develops several components progressively. Warm up, use correct technique, rest between hard sessions and stop when there is sharp pain, dizziness or breathing difficulty.
