The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct.
Verse 39:

Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment on the Day when a man will see what his hands have put forth, and the disbeliever will say, “Oh, I wish that I were dust!”
Explanation of the Verses
These verses describe the magnificent rewards for the righteous (Al-Muttaqeen) in Jannah (Paradise). Allah promises them:
- Triumph and Success: They will achieve ultimate success and victory.
- Beautiful Gardens and Vineyards: They will enjoy lush gardens filled with grapevines.
- Companions of Equal Age: They will have delightful companions.
- Full Cups of Drink: They will be given pure, delightful drinks.
- Peace and Purity: There will be no idle talk, lies, or evil speech in Jannah.
- Abundant Reward from Allah: These are gifts from Allah, sufficient and beyond imagination.
Verses 37-39 remind us of Allah’s supreme power as the Lord of all creation. On the Day of Judgment, angels and the Spirit (Jibreel) will stand in rows, and no one will speak without Allah’s permission. This emphasizes the truth and certainty of the Day of Judgment, urging everyone to prepare for it by returning to Allah through good deeds.
Verse 40 warns of a close punishment and describes the regret of the disbeliever on that Day, wishing they were dust to avoid accountability.
