Common Diseases Of Farm Animals

Farm animals can become sick just like humans. Below are the names and symptoms of some diseases that affect animals on the farm.

Ringworm: Ringworm is a skin disease found on animals. It creates round patches on their body. The following are symptoms of ringworm:

1. Hair loss in circular patches
2. Itchy skin
3. Red or scaly skin
4. Skin irritation
5. Dry and crusty spots
6. Thickened skin
7. Inflammation

Scabies: Scabies affects the skin of farm animals and causes itching. The following are symptoms of scabies:

1. severe scratching
2. Red swollen skin
3. Thick skin patches
4. Hair loss
5. Weight loss
6. Restlessness
7. Skin lesions

Sleeping Sickness: This disease is spread by tsetse flies. It makes animals very weak. The following are symptoms of sleeping sickness:

1. Tiredness
2. Weakness in legs
3. High fever
4. Loss of appetite
5. Death if not treated
6. Swollen lymph nodes
7. Anemia

Pneumonia: Pneumonia is a disease that affects the lungs of animals.The following are symptoms of pneumonia:

1. Coughing
2. Challenging breathing
3. Fever
4. Running nose
5. Tiredness
6. Loss of appetite
7. Rapid breathing

Tuberculosis: Tuberculosis is a lung disease that spreads between animals. The following are symptoms of tuberculosis:

1. Dry cough
2. Weight loss
3. Weakness
4. High temperature
5. Difficulty in breathing
6. Enlarged lymph nodes
7. Reduced milk production

Newcastle Disease: This disease affects birds like chickens. the following are symptoms of Newcastle disease:

1. Twisting of the neck
2. Greenish droppings
3. Coughing and sneezing
4. Sudden death
5. Weakness
6. Paralysis
7. Swollen eyes
