- Classes of Food:
- Carbohydrates: Energy-giving foods (e.g., starch, sugar, cellulose).
- Proteins: Body-building and repair foods (e.g., meat, fish, beans).
- Fats and Oils: Energy storage, insulation, and protection (e.g., groundnut oil, butter).

Respiration
Respiration is the biochemical process in which living organisms exchange gases with their environment and release energy from organic food substances. This energy is used to power various cellular activities.
- Types of Respiration:
- Aerobic Respiration: Occurs in the presence of oxygen. It completely breaks down glucose to produce a large amount of energy, carbon dioxide, and water.

- Aerobic Respiration: Occurs in the presence of oxygen. It completely breaks down glucose to produce a large amount of energy, carbon dioxide, and water.
- Gaseous Exchange: The process by which oxygen is taken in and carbon dioxide is given out by an organism.
- In Humans: Occurs in the lungs, specifically across the thin walls of the alveoli and capillaries. Oxygen diffuses from the alveoli into the blood, while carbon dioxide diffuses from the blood into the alveoli.
- In Plants: Occurs mainly through stomata on leaves, lenticels on stems, and root hairs. Oxygen is taken in for respiration, and carbon dioxide for photosynthesis.
