- School Health – This involves keeping the school environment clean and safe for teaching and learning. Examples include proper waste disposal, clean toilets, and well-ventilated classrooms.
- Community Health – This is the collective effort to keep the community free from diseases and hazards through sanitation, health education, clean water supply, and proper drainage.
Determinants of Health
Health is influenced by several factors. These factors affect whether a person enjoys good health or suffers from poor health.
The following are the determinants of health:
- Hereditary Factors – Traits and diseases passed from parents to children, e.g. sickle cell anemia.
- Environment – Conditions such as clean water, good air, sanitation, and safe housing that affect health.
- Lifestyle – Habits such as diet, exercise, hygiene, smoking, and alcohol use that impact health positively or negatively.
Characteristics of a Healthy Person
A healthy person shows signs of wellness in body, mind, and social behavior.
