Lesson Content/Board Summary

Place of Worship (Mosque)

Introduction to Place of Worship (Mosque)

A mosque is a special building where Muslims go to worship Allah. It is a clean and peaceful place where Muslims gather to pray, learn about Islam, and remember Allah.

The following are reasons why Muslims go to the mosque:

  • To perform the five daily prayers (Salah) in congregation.
  • To listen to religious lessons and sermons.
  • To read the Holy Qur’an.
  • To gather for special events like Eid prayers.

Etiquettes in a Mosque:

  • Be quiet and respectful.
  • Keep the mosque clean.
  • Dress modestly.
  • Remove shoes before entering the prayer area.

Adhan (Call to Prayer)

Adhan is the Islamic call to prayer. It is recited by a person called a Muezzin from the minaret of a mosque or from inside the mosque to announce that it is time for prayer.

The following are reasons for Adhan:

  • To inform Muslims that the time for a particular prayer has arrived.
  • To invite Muslims to come to the mosque and perform prayer together.
  • To remind people about Allah and the importance of prayer.

Adhan is called five times a day, before each of the five daily prayers:

  • Fajr (Dawn Prayer)
  • Dhuhr (Noon Prayer)
  • Asr (Afternoon Prayer)
  • Maghrib (Sunset Prayer)
  • Isha (Night Prayer)
