The Call of Abraham

God chose Abraham and called him to leave his home and travel to a new land. Abraham listened to God and obeyed without question.

Memory Verse: Now the Lord had said to Abram, ‘Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. — Genesis 12:1

The Call and Obedience of Abraham

God called Abraham while he was living in Haran. God told him to leave his country, his people, and his father’s house to go to a land that He would show him.

Abraham obeyed God immediately. He took his wife Sarah, his nephew Lot, and all his belongings and began the journey. He did not know where he was going, but he trusted God. Abraham’s faith pleased God, and He made a covenant with him to bless him and make him a father of many nations.

Lessons from Abraham’s Call

We learn from Abraham’s story that it is good to trust and obey God even when we do not know everything. God rewards those who follow Him faithfully.

Blessings God Gave Abraham

The following are the blessings God promised Abraham:

He would become a great nation
God would bless him
His name would be great
He would be a blessing to others
God would bless those who bless him
God would curse those who curse him
All nations would be blessed through him
