Meaning Of Law

Laws are rules that guide people on how to behave well. God gave us His own laws so we can live good and peaceful lives. These laws help us to know what is right and wrong.

The Ten Commandments

God gave the Ten Commandments to Moses on Mount Sinai for the Israelites. These laws helped them to live holy lives and love one another.

The Ten Commandments are:

Do not worship any other god.
Do not make or bow to idols.
Do not misuse God’s name.
Keep the Sabbath day holy.
Honour your father and mother.
Do not kill.
Do not commit adultery.
Do not steal.
Do not tell lies against others.
Do not desire what belongs to others.

Reasons Why God Gave the Ten Commandments

These include:

To teach us how to love and serve God
To help us live in peace with others
To show us what is right and wrong
To guide us in making good choices
To help us become holy and obedient

Importance of the Law to the Israelites

The laws helped the Israelites live in unity and obey God. They were able to know when they did wrong and ask for forgiveness. These include:

It showed them how to treat one another
It prepared them to receive blessings
It guided their worship and daily life
