JESUS GAVE HIS LIFE FOR US ON THE CROSS

1. Jesus Before Pilate

Pontius Pilate was the Roman governor of Judea. Jesus was brought before Pilate by the Jewish leaders who accused Him of various crimes, including claiming to be King of the Jews. Pilate found no guilt in Jesus but, under pressure from the crowd, he sentenced Jesus to be crucified.

Key events before Pilate:

Jewish leaders brought Jesus to Pilate.
Pilate questioned Jesus and found no fault in Him.
Pilate offered to release Jesus or Barabbas, and the crowd chose Barabbas.
Pilate washed his hands, indicating he was innocent of Jesus’ blood.
Jesus was scourged (flogged) and then handed over for crucifixion.

2. Jesus Before Herod

Herod Antipas was the tetrarch of Galilee, the region where Jesus was from. Pilate sent Jesus to Herod because Jesus was a Galilean. Herod was curious to see Jesus perform a miracle, but Jesus refused to speak to him. Herod and his soldiers mocked Jesus and sent Him back to Pilate.

Pilate sent Jesus to Herod.
Herod questioned Jesus, hoping to see a miracle.
Jesus remained silent and did not answer Herod.
Herod and his soldiers mocked Jesus, dressed Him in an elegant robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

3. Injustice and Suffering

Injustice is when someone is treated unfairly or without justice. Suffering is experiencing pain, distress, or hardship.

Jesus experienced great injustice and suffering during His trials and crucifixion. The injustice included:

Being falsely accused by the Jewish leaders.
Pilate condemning Him despite finding no guilt.
The crowd choosing a criminal (Barabbas) over Him.

His suffering included:

Being beaten and flogged.
Being mocked and ridiculed by soldiers.
Carrying His own cross.
The pain of crucifixion.

4. Faith During Trials

A trial is a difficult situation or challenge. Faith during trials means trusting God even when things are hard and unfair.

Jesus showed perfect faith and endurance by:

Remaining calm and silent during false accusations.
Accepting His suffering as part of God’s plan.
Praying for His persecutors.
Trusting God’s will until the very end.

We can show faith during our own trials by:
