Verses 21-28: Reading, Meaning, and Memorisation

Suratul Jinn is the 72nd chapter of the Holy Qur’an, revealed in Makkah. It speaks about the jinn listening to the Qur’an, their belief in Islam, and Allah’s absolute knowledge and power.

The following are Verses 21-28 of Suratul Jinn with their English meanings:

قُلْ إِنِّي لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرًّا وَلَا رَشَدًا
Meaning: Say, “Indeed, I possess no power [to cause] you harm or to [give you] right direction.”
قُلْ إِنِّي لَن يُجِيرَنِي مِنَ اللَّهِ أَحَدٌ وَلَنْ أَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِ مُلْتَحَدًا
Meaning: Say, “Indeed, no one can protect me from Allah, nor can I find refuge other than Him.”
إِلَّا بَلَاغًا مِّنَ اللَّهِ وَرِسَالَاتِهِ ۚ وَمَن يَعْصِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَإِنَّ لَهُ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا
Meaning: But only notification from Allah and His messages. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger – then indeed, for him is the fire of Hell, he will abide therein forever.
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا رَأَوْا مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَضْعَفُ نَاصِرًا وَأَقَلُّ عَدَدًا
Meaning: [They will continue] until, when they see that which they are promised, they will know who is weaker in helpers and less in number.
قُلْ إِنْ أَدْرِي أَقَرِيبٌ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ أَمْ يَجْعَلُ لَهُ رَبِّي أَمَدًا
Meaning: Say, “I know not if what you are promised is near or if my Lord will grant for it a [long] period.”
عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيْبِهِ أَحَدًا
Meaning: [He is] Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyone.
إِلَّا مَنِ ارْتَضَىٰ مِن رَّسُولٍ فَإِنَّهُ يَسْلُكُ مِن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ رَصَدًا
Meaning: Except whom He has approved of messengers, and indeed, He sends before each messenger and behind him observers.
لِّيَعْلَمَ أَن قَدْ أَبْلَغُوا رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَأَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ وَأَحْصَىٰ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عَدَدًا
Meaning: That He may know that they have conveyed the messages of their Lord; and He has encompassed whatever is with them and has enumerated all things in number.

Allah’s exclusive power and control over all things.
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is a messenger, not a possessor of divine power.
The consequence of disobeying Allah and His Messenger is Hellfire.
Only Allah knows the unseen and the timing of future events.
