Activities of NAFDAC

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is responsible for regulating and controlling the manufacture, importation, exportation, advertisement, and sale of food, drugs, cosmetics, and chemicals in Nigeria.

The following are the activities of NAFDAC:

Registration and approval of drugs, foods, and medical products before they are sold to the public.
Inspection of pharmaceutical industries and food factories to ensure compliance with health standards.
Seizure and destruction of fake, expired, or unwholesome drugs and food items.
Public enlightenment on the dangers of counterfeit drugs and unsafe food.
Issuing of NAFDAC numbers as proof of product approval and authenticity.

Activities of NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is a federal body responsible for eliminating the growing, processing, manufacturing, selling, exporting, and trafficking of hard drugs in Nigeria.

The following are the activities of NDLEA:

Arresting and prosecuting drug traffickers and dealers.
Conducting surveillance and raids on drug-related operations.
Educating the public on the dangers of drug abuse through campaigns and school programs.
Seizing illegal drugs and destroying them.
Collaborating with international organizations to reduce drug trafficking.

Misuse of Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is the use of plants or natural substances for curing or preventing diseases. Although herbal medicine can be beneficial, misuse occurs when it is taken in wrong quantities, mixed with harmful chemicals, or used without professional guidance.

The following are the dangers of misusing herbal medicine:

Overdose can lead to poisoning or damage to internal organs like the liver and kidney.
