Water Cycle – Dew
Dew is a common sight in the early morning or evening. It’s the tiny water droplets we see on surfaces like grass and leaves.
What is Dew?
Dew is water that has condensed from the air onto a surface. Condensation is when water vapor in the air changes into liquid water.
Formation of Dew
Dew forms through a process involving air moisture and temperature changes. The following are the steps in the formation of dew:
- Warm air holds moisture: During the day,the sun warms the air,allowing it to hold lots of water vapor.
- Cooling at night: As the sun sets, the air cools down.
- Condensation: When the air cools enough, it can’t hold all the water vapor. The extra water vapor becomes liquid water droplets.
- Dew formation: These droplets form on cooler surfaces, like grass and leaves.
It’s like when a cold drink gets water droplets on the outside; the cold glass cools the air, causing condensation.
