  3. Nutrient Content: Presence of macronutrients (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium) and micronutrients (Boron, Zinc, Iron, etc.) in sufficient quantities.
  4. Soil Structure: Good soil structure allows for proper aeration and water infiltration.
  5. Presence of Microorganisms: Soil microbes facilitate nutrient cycling and organic matter decomposition.
Methods of Maintaining and Improving Soil Fertility

Farmers employ various methods to ensure the soil remains fertile and productive:

  1. Application of Organic Manures: Using farmyard manure, compost, green manure, and crop residues enriches the soil with organic matter and nutrients.
  2. Application of Inorganic Fertilizers: Chemical fertilizers (e.g., NPK, Urea, SSP) provide specific nutrients quickly to the soil.
