Instructional Materials

To deliver this lesson,the teacher will use the following materials: a sample first aid box,cotton wool,bandages,plasters,antiseptic liquid,and other relevant items.

This lesson equips pupils with essential knowledge of first aid in the kitchen, enabling them to respond effectively to minor injuries before professional help arrives.

Kitchen First Aid

First aid is the immediate care given to an injured or suddenly ill person before professional medical help arrives. In the kitchen, where cuts, burns, and other accidents can occur, having a well-equipped first aid box and knowing how to use it is crucial.

Contents of a First aid Box

A well-stocked first aid box should contain the following items:

Cotton Wool – Used for cleaning wounds and applying antiseptic.
Bandages – Used to cover and protect wounds.
Plasters – Used for covering minor cuts and abrasions.
Antiseptic Liquid – Used to disinfect wounds and prevent infection.
Sterile Gauze Pads – Used for dressing wounds and absorbing blood.
Medical Tape – Used to secure bandages and dressings.
Scissors – Used for cutting bandages and tape.
Tweezers – Used for removing splinters or small objects from wounds.
Pain Relievers – Such as paracetamol, for relieving pain.
Burn Cream – Used for treating minor burns.
