Meaning and Types of Maintenance
Maintenance refers to the activities or actions taken to keep an object, equipment, or system in good working condition. this means that it prevents things from breaking down or wearing out wholly.
Types of Maintenance:
There are several categories of maintenance strategies, each designed to address specific needs and ensure the longevity and reliability of equipment and systems. These include:
- Preventive Maintenance: Regularly checking and servicing equipment to avoid problems. Such as, oiling a bicycle chain.
- Corrective Maintenance: Fixing equipment after it has broken down. Such as, repairing a flat tire.
- Predictive Maintenance: Using technology to predict potential failures before they occur. For example, monitoring car engine sounds.
- Scheduled Maintenance: Following a fixed timetable for maintenance. For example, servicing a generator every six months.
- Routine Maintenance: Day-to-day small fixes and care. For example, cleaning a fan or replacing light bulbs.
Teaching methods
To deliver this lesson, the teacher will adopt the following methods: Explanation, Visual Aids, Group Discussion, Presentation, Questioning.
