  • Sharing toys or food with friends.
  • Speaking gently and politely.

What is Obedience?

Obedience means listening to and following instructions or rules given by those in authority, such as parents, teachers, and elders. It is doing what is right and expected of us.

Examples of obedience include:

  • Doing chores when asked by parents.
  • Following school rules.
  • Listening to teachers in class.

Kindness and obedience are very important because they:

  • Make Allah happy.
  • Help us live peacefully with others.
  • Earn us respect from people.
  • Make our homes and schools happy places.
  • Show that we are good Muslims.

Showing Kindness and Obedience

As Muslims, we should show kindness and obedience to:

  • Parents: By listening to them, helping them, and speaking to them respectfully.

  • Elders: By greeting them, helping them, and listening to their advice.
  • Fellow Human Beings: By sharing, helping, and being polite to everyone.
  • Neighbours: By visiting them, helping them, and not disturbing their peace.
  • Other Creatures (Animals): By feeding them, not harming them, and taking care of them.

Islamic Teaching on Kindness and Obedience

Islam teaches us to be kind and obedient. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the best example of kindness and obedience. He taught us to love for others what we love for ourselves and to respect our elders and be merciful to the young.

A simple teaching to remember:

  • “Be kind to those on earth and the One in the heavens will be kind to you.”

Examples from Islamic Teachings

  • The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) always showed kindness to children, the poor, and even animals.
  • The Quran teaches us to be kind to our parents and to speak to them with respect.
  • Muslims are encouraged to visit the sick and help the needy as acts of kindness.
