National Symbols

National symbols are special signs or items that represent a country. one of the most vital national symbols is the Nigerian flag. It shows our unity and national pride.

The Nigerian National Flag

The national flag is a rectangular symbol with two colours: green and white. It was designed in 1959 by Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi and adopted in 1960.

Meaning of the Colours of the Flag

Each colour on the flag has a meaning. The following are the meanings of the colours:

Green stands for agriculture
White stands for peace and unity

Importance of the Nigerian Flag

The flag helps Nigerians to remember their country and feel proud. These include:
