Coat of Arms

The Coat of Arms is a national symbol that represents the authority and unity of Nigeria. Each part of the Coat of Arms has a meaning.

The Black Shield: The black shield stands for the fertile soil of Nigeria.

the Two White Lines: The white lines represent the two main rivers in Nigeria.

The following are the rivers:

River Niger
River Benue
River Kaduna

The Two Horses: The horses on both sides of the shield represent dignity.

The Eagle: The eagle on top of the shield stands for strength and pride.

The Green and White Wreath: The green and white wreath under the eagle shows the rich soil and unity of the country.

The Red Flowers: The red flowers at the base are Costus spectabilis,Nigeria’s national flower.

The following are what they represent:

Beauty of the nation
Pride in natural resources
Uniqueness of the nation

The Motto: The motto on the coat of Arms is “Unity and Faith, Peace and progress.”
