Meaning of Pulley

A pulley is a simple machine that helps us lift heavy objects with less effort. It’s like a wheel with a groove,and a rope goes through that groove. It makes work easier by changing the direction of the force needed to lift something.

Uses of Pulleys

Pulleys are used in various applications to make lifting and moving objects easier. These include:

  1. Construction sites: Lifting heavy building materials.
  2. Elevators: Moving people and goods up and down tall buildings.
  3. Flagpoles: Raising and lowering flags.
  4. Cranes: Lifting and moving heavy loads in factories and ports.
  5. Well systems: Drawing water from underground sources.
  6. Theaters: Lifting and lowering curtains and stage equipment.

Think about how much easier it is indeed to pull a rope down than to lift a heavy weight straight up!
