1. Addition and Subtraction of 3-Digit Numbers
Addition is combining two or more numbers to find their total sum. Subtraction is taking one number away from another to find the difference.
Example:

Step 1: Add the units: 5 + 3 = 8
Step 2: Add the tens: 4 + 2 = 6
Step 3: Add the hundreds: 3 + 1 = 4
Answer: 468
2. Basic Multiplication and Division
Multiplication is repeated addition. Division is sharing equally or grouping numbers.
Example:
Multiply: 23 x 2
Step 1: Multiply units by 2: 3 x 2 = 6
Step 2: Multiply tens by 2: 2 x 2 = 4 (This represents 20 x 2 = 40)
Answer: 46
3. Simple Fractions
A fraction represents a part of a whole. It has a numerator (top number) and a denominator (bottom number).
Examples of simple fractions:
- 1/2 (one-half)
- 1/3 (one-third)
- 1/4 (one-quarter)
4. Measurement of Length
Length is the distance between two points. Common units of length are centimetres (cm) and metres (m).
Conversion:
- 100 centimetres (cm) = 1 metre (m)
NOTE: When converting from smaller units to larger units divide, but when converting from larger units to smaller units multiply.
