Forms Of Energy

Energy is the ability to do work. It exists in different forms,and each is vital in various ways. Below are the major forms of energy:

  1. Mechanical Energy: Found in moving objects like a rolling ball.
  2. Chemical Energy: Stored in substances like food and fuel.
  3. Electrical Energy: Powers devices such as bulbs and fans.
  4. Solar Energy: Comes from the sun and helps in drying clothes.
  5. Thermal Energy: Seen in heat, like from a fire or stove.
  6. Nuclear Energy: Stored in atoms, used in nuclear power plants.
  7. Sound Energy: Found in vibrations, like in music or speech.


Forms of Energy

Energy is the ability to do work or cause change. Common forms are light, heat, sound, electrical, chemical, mechanical and solar energy. A moving bicycle has mechanical energy; food and batteries store chemical energy; a ringing bell produces sound.

A form of energy is not the same as its source. The Sun is a source that provides light and heat, while a battery is a source of electrical energy through chemical change.
