Basic Skills in Basketball

Basic skills in basketball are the fundamental movements and techniques that are the foundation of the sport.These skills are essential for all players, helping them move the ball, score, and work as a team. This lesson focuses on throwing and catching.

Throwing in Basketball

Throwing involves using your hands to propel the basketball towards a teammate or the hoop. Proper grip, stance, and arm movement are key.

Catching in Basketball

Catching is securely receiving the ball. Good hand-eye coordination is needed, using both hands and keeping your eyes on the ball until it’s secure.


Basketball Skills and Safety

Basic basketball skills include holding the ball, chest passing, bounce passing, catching, dribbling and shooting towards a basket. Eyes watch the ball and space; fingers spread to receive it softly.

Use a light, age-sized ball and a clear surface. Pupils take turns, avoid pushing and stop when the teacher blows the whistle.
