Lesson Content/Board Summary
The Glorious Qur’an
Meaning of The Glorious Qur’an
The Glorious Qur’an is the holy book of Islam, revealed by Allah (SWT) to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) through Angel Jibril (Gabriel) over a period of 23 years. It is a complete code of life, providing guidance, laws, and teachings for all mankind until the Day of Judgment.
Introduction to Suratul Qari’ah (Q 101)
Suratul Qari’ah is the 101st chapter of the Qur’an, consisting of 11 verses. It is a Makkan Surah, meaning it was revealed in Makkah before the Hijra. The Surah focuses on the Day of Judgment, its terrifying events, and the ultimate accountability of human beings for their deeds.
Reading/Recitation of Suratul Qari’ah
Reciting Suratul Qari’ah requires proper Tajwid, which refers to the rules governing the pronunciation of words in the Qur’an. This includes correct articulation of letters, proper elongation, and pauses to ensure the meaning is preserved.
Translation of Suratul Qari’ah
1. Al-Qari’ah (The Striking Calamity)!
2. What is Al-Qari’ah?
3. And what will make you know what Al-Qari’ah is?
4. It is the Day when people will be like scattered moths.
5. And the mountains will be like carded wool.
6. Then as for him whose scales are heavy (with good deeds),
7. He will be in a life of pleasure (in Jannah).
8. But as for him whose scales are light,
9. His abode will be Hawiyah (the bottomless pit).
10. And what will make you know what it is?
11. It is a Fire, blazing fiercely!
Commentary (Tafsir) and Lessons from Suratul Qari’ah

- The Reality of the Last Day: The Surah emphasizes the inevitable and terrifying nature of the Day of Judgment, urging believers to prepare for it.
- Accountability for Deeds: It highlights that every individual will be judged based on the weight of their good and bad deeds.
- Reward and Punishment: Those with heavy scales of good deeds will attain eternal bliss (Jannah), while those with light scales will face severe punishment in Hawiyah (Hellfire).
