Mineral resources are natural things we get from the ground. Thes resources help us in many ways and are used to make important things we use every day.

Examples are:

Petroleum
Gold
Limestone
Natural Gas
Coal

Uses of Mineral Resources

These resources help us in many ways in our homes,schools,and country.

The following are uses of mineral resources:

Petroleum is used to make fuel for cars and machines
Gold is used to make jewelry
Limestone is used to make cement
Natural gas is used for cooking
Coal is used to produce electricity

How Resources Are Used

Resources are materials or assets used to meet needs. Crude oil and natural gas provide fuels and industrial materials; limestone is used in cement; timber provides wood products; water supports homes, farming, transport and power; fertile soil supports crops.

Extraction can create jobs and products but may also pollute or damage habitats. Responsible use includes safety, lawful management, fair benefit, pollution control, recycling and restoration of affected land.
