When a society lacks good national values, it faces serious challenges. These problems affect individuals, communities, and the entire nation. The following are problems caused by a lack of good national values:

1. Ignorance: People fail to understand the importance of unity and progress.
2. Tribalism: Discrimination based on ethnicity causes disunity.
3. Economic Stagnation: Lack of cooperation slows down growth.
4. Corruption: Dishonest behaviors harm the nation’s reputation.
5. Conflict: Lack of values leads to misunderstandings and violence.

Effects on People and National Development

When honesty, fairness, responsibility and respect are weak, bribery, cheating, vandalism, discrimination and neglect of duty can grow. Public money and property may be misused, services become poorer and citizens lose trust in one another and in institutions.

Lack of good values can also cause conflict and slow development because people cooperate less. Improvement begins with fair rules, good examples, civic education, accountability and equal treatment—not with blaming an ethnic or religious group.
