Teacher Guide for Using This Lesson Plan

Before the lesson, ensure you have a clear and engaging family chart or various pictures depicting different family members. Begin by greeting the pupils and engaging them in a brief discussion about who they live with to activate prior knowledge. Clearly explain the definition of ‘Ezinụlọ’ using simple Igbo words and the visual aids. Guide pupils to identify and name core family members in Igbo. Encourage active participation, especially in describing their own families in simple Igbo sentences. During Step 7, ask questions directly related to the definition of family and its members. Pupils should copy the Board Summary notes on “Nkọwa Ezinụlọ” and “Ndị Mebere Ezinụlọ” in Step 8. Provide support for pupils struggling with Igbo vocabulary and pronunciation, and challenge advanced learners to use more complex sentences or identify extended family members. Ensure a positive and interactive learning environment.
