Illegal drugs are substances that can be harmful to our bodies and minds, and it’s against the law to use them. They can make people sick and are not safe.

Examples of Illegal Drugs

Examples are:

Inhalants (like glue or paint sniffing)
Codeine
Tramadol

Illegal and Improper Drug Use

An illegal drug is a substance whose production, possession or sale is prohibited by law. A legal medicine can also be used wrongly when it is taken without medical direction, in the wrong quantity or for a purpose for which it was not prescribed.

Children should never try to identify an unknown drug by tasting or smelling it. They should refuse tablets, drinks, powders or inhaled substances offered secretly, move away and report to a parent, teacher or another trusted adult. Medicines must remain in labelled containers and be kept out of children’s reach.
