A state government is responsible for providing essential services to its citizens. Some of its key duties include:

  4. Transportation: Maintaining state roads and public transportation.

Major Functions Explained

A state government makes and carries out policies within the powers assigned to states. It supports public services such as state roads, schools, health facilities, agriculture, environmental protection and local economic development. The precise responsibilities are shared with federal and local authorities under the law.

The governor leads the executive branch, the State House of Assembly makes state laws, and state courts administer justice within their jurisdiction. Citizens contribute by obeying laws, paying lawful taxes and reporting community needs through proper channels.
