What are Digging Tools?

Digging tools help farmers prepare the land for planting. They loosen and turn the soil, making it easier to plant seeds and grow crops. They also remove weeds and prepare the land for planting. Planting seeds is made easier with prepared soil.

Hoe

A hoe has a long handle and a flat blade. It breaks up soil, removes weeds, and makes furrows for planting. The uses of a hoe include:

1. Weeding: Removes weeds competing with crops.
2. Planting: Creates furrows for seeds.
3. Cultivating: Loosens soil around plants.
4. Soil Preparation: Breaks up compacted soil for planting.
5. Ridging: Creates ridges for planting certain crops.

pickaxe

A pickaxe has a long handle and a two-pointed head. It breaks up hard soil, rocks, and roots. The uses of a pickaxe include:

1. Breaking up hard soil.
2. Removing rocks from the soil.
3. Digging trenches for irrigation or drainage.
4. Breaking up rocky or compacted ground.
5. Removing tree stumps and roots.
