Full Meaning of ICT

ICT stands for Information and Communication Technology. It refers to all the tools and systems used to create, store, retrieve, transmit, and receive information.

Types of ICT

  • Data Networks
  • Information Systems

Broadcasting

Broadcasting is the distribution of audio or video content to a dispersed audience via any electronic mass communication medium. It involves transmitting signals from one source to many receivers.

The following are types of broadcasting:

  • Radio broadcasting
  • Television broadcasting (Terrestrial TV)
  • Satellite TV systems

Telecommunications

Telecommunications refers to communication over a distance by cable, telegraph, telephone, or broadcasting. It involves the exchange of information over significant distances by electronic means.

Examples of telecommunication services include:

Data Networks

Data networks are digital telecommunication networks that allow nodes to share resources. In data networks, computing devices exchange data with each other over network links.

Information Systems

Information systems are organized systems for the collection, organization, storage, and communication of information. They combine hardware, software, data, people, and processes to facilitate information management.

Satellite Communications

Radio

Radio is a technology that uses radio waves to transmit information, such as sounds, by modulating electromagnetic energy over the air. It is primarily used for audio broadcasting.

Television

Television is a telecommunication medium used for transmitting moving images in monochrome (black and white) or colour, and in two or three dimensions and sound. It is widely used for video broadcasting.

Satellite TV Systems

Satellite TV systems deliver television programming to viewers by relaying signals from an orbiting communications satellite. Viewers use a satellite dish and a receiver to access channels.
