Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, born March 5, 1937, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, attended Baptist Boys’ High School and served in the Nigerian Army. His civilian presidency (1999-2007) saw economic improvements, support for farmers, and increased school establishment. He also worked to reduce Nigeria’s foreign debt and promote African peace.

Contributions to the country’s development:

1. Led Nigeria as a military head of state and later as a civilian president.
2. Promoted agricultural reforms and improved education infrastructure.
3. Initiated the National Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (NEEDS).

Mallam Umaru Musa Yar’adua, Nigeria’s 13th president (2007-2010), was born August 16, 1951, in Katsina State. He held degrees in Education and Public Governance. Before his presidency, he served as Katsina State governor (1999-2007), focusing on education, healthcare, and infrastructure. His presidency prioritized fighting corruption, improving the economy, and implementing the NEEDS program.
