Meaning of Industry
An industry is a group of businesses or activities that make goods or provide services. The typically involving manufacturing, processing, or large-scale production.
Types of Industry
There are different categories or classifications of industries based on their activities, products, or services. These are examples of types of industries:
- Primary Industry: These industries deal with the extraction of raw materials from the earth, such as agriculture, mining, forestry and fishing.
- Secondary Industry: These industries deal with the manufacturing and processing of raw materials into finished goods, such as construction, manufacturing, Food processing (turning cassava into garri, Textile production (making clothes from cotton), building houses and roads and energy production.
- Tertiary Industry: These industries provides services to consumers and other businesses, such as transportation, healthcare, education, and finance.
- Quaternary Industry: These industries deal with knowledge-based activities such as research and development, information technology, and consulting.
- Quinary Industry: These industries Involves high-level decision-making and policy-making, such as government, top executives, and non-profit organizations.
