Causes Of Group Conflicts
Conflicts happen when people do not agree or understand each other. Group conflicts occur when many people disagree or argue over something.
Misunderstanding: Misunderstanding happens when people do not fully understand what others are saying or doing. The following are causes of misunderstanding:
- Poor communication
- Wrong assumptions
- Lack of listening
- Language differences
- Cultural differences
- Unclear instructions
- Biases and prejudices
Differences in Opinions: People often think differently about issues and how things should be done.The following are causes of opinion conflict:
- Different beliefs
- Different ideas
- Unshared values
- Disagreement on plans
- Varying perspectives
- Contrasting experiences
- Personal biases
Competition for Resources: Groups may fight when they want the same thing at the same time. The following are causes of resource conflict:
- Struggle for leadership
- Sharing of materials
- Space in class
- Use of school facilities
- Limited funding
- Access to equipment
- Time allocation
Lack of Cooperation: Conflict grows when people refuse to work together or help one another. These include:
- Refusing group tasks
- Ignoring rules
- Doing things alone
- refusing to share
- Lack of teamwork
- Unwillingness to compromise
- Disrespect for others’ contributions
