To deliver this lesson, the teacher will use the following: Charts showing images of floods, earthquakes, and fire outbreaks, short video clips of disaster response actions, pictures of emergency kits and first aid materials, whiteboard and markers, flashcards of key words.
Rationale for the Lesson
Understanding how to respond to natural disasters helps children stay safe and help others in times of emergency.
Prerequisite/Previous Knowledge
pupils already know that disasters like floods or fire can happen and may have seen or heard about emergency situations in their surroundings.

Response to Natural Disasters
When a natural disaster happens, people need to act quickly to stay safe.When disasters happen, people try to protect themselves and help others by doing the following;
The following are examples of actions taken by people during natural disasters:
- Calling emergency services for help
- Helping to move people to safe places
- Giving first aid to injured persons
- Giving food and water to victims
- Comforting and supporting one another
- Providing shelter to those who have lost their homes
- clearing debris to create safe pathways
Actions Taken by Government and Agencies
The government and other groups help people during disasters by doing the following;

- Sending rescue teams to save people
- Providing food, water, and shelter
- Treating sick and injured persons
- Fixing roads and buildings
- Giving warning before the disaster happens
- Coordinating relief efforts to ensure aid reaches those in need
- Establishing temporary hospitals and clinics to handle medical emergencies
