Meaning, Methods And Prevention Of Drug abuse
Drug abuse means using medicine or substances in a wrong way. It can harm the body and mind. It happens when someone takes drugs without a doctor’s advice.
methods of Drug Abuse
People abuse drugs in different ways. The following are ways people abuse drugs:
- Drinking cough syrup without need
- Taking drugs just to feel high
- Sniffing glue or chemicals
- Using painkillers too often
- Smoking hard drugs
- Mixing drugs with alcohol
- Sharing needles to inject drugs
Types of Hard Drugs
Hard drugs are hazardous drugs that affect the brain. They are harmful and can cause addiction. They include:
- Cocaine
- Marijuana
- Heroin
- Tramadol
- Codeine
- Methamphetamine (Crystal Meth)
- ecstasy (MDMA)
Prevention or Reduction of drug Abuse
There are ways to stop or reduce drug abuse.The following are ways to prevent drug abuse:
- Say no to drugs
- Avoid bad friends
- Follow doctor’s advice
- Listen to parents and teachers
- join anti-drug clubs
- Educate others about the dangers of drug abuse
- Seek help if you or someone you know is struggling with drug abuse
