Social Studies is the study of man and his environment.
It helps us understand how people live, work, and solve problems around them.

Man and His Environment

Man’s environment includes everything around him — both natural and man-made things.

Examples of the natural environment are: air, water, trees, animals, and soil.

Examples of the built environment are: houses, roads, schools, and markets.

Common Problems of Man in His Environment

1. Dirty surroundings and waste.
2. Flooding after rainfall.
3. Fighting or quarrels among people.
4. Lack of clean water.
5. Poor roads or broken bridges.

Ways to Solve These Problems

1. Keep the environment clean.
2. Build good drainage and avoid dumping waste in gutters.
3. Settle disagreements peacefully.
4. Work together as a community.
5. Report major problems to leaders or elders.
