Lesson Content/Board Summary

Preparation for the Second Coming

Understanding the Second Coming

The Second Coming refers to the future return of Jesus Christ to Earth. The Bible teaches that Jesus will come back to gather His followers and judge the world. We need to be prepared for this event.

Memory Verse

Mark 13:33: “Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.”

Bible Reading
  • Mark 13:24 – 37
  • Matthew 25: 1 – 13

The Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13)

Jesus told a story about ten virgins who went to meet a bridegroom. Five of them were wise and brought extra oil for their lamps, while five were foolish and did not. When the bridegroom was delayed, the foolish virgins ran out of oil and missed the wedding. This parable teaches us to be ready for Jesus’ return.

Lessons from the Parable

The following are important lessons from the parable:

  • Steadfastness: We should continue to live righteously and faithfully.
  • Patience: We should wait for the Lord’s return with a hopeful heart.
  • Vigilance: We must be alert and ready at all times, as we do not know when Jesus will return.
  • Personal Responsibility: Each person is responsible for their own spiritual preparation; no one can prepare for another.

Significance of Jesus as the Bread of Life

Why We Eat Physical Food

Just as our bodies need food to live and grow, our souls need spiritual food.

The following are reasons why we eat:

  • To get energy and strength.
  • To grow and develop.
  • To stay healthy and strong.
  • To live and survive.
Memory Verse

John 6:35: “Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.'”

Bible Reading
  • John 6:51

Jesus as the Bread of Life

Jesus called Himself the “Bread of Life” because He provides spiritual nourishment that gives eternal life. Just as physical bread sustains our bodies, Jesus sustains our souls.

The following are reasons why Jesus is the Bread of Life:

  • He fills anyone who receives Him, satisfying their deepest spiritual needs.
  • Those who receive Jesus will never be spiritually hungry or thirsty.
  • Jesus is the Word of God; when we receive Him, we have God’s life-giving Word in us.
  • Receiving Jesus means having eternal life.
