Forms of Energy
Energy is the ability to do work or cause change. It’s involved in everything around us. For example,throwing a ball uses energy.
Forms of Energy
The different forms of energy are:
- Mechanical Energy: Energy from movement or position.
- Kinetic Energy: Energy of moving things. Example: A rolling ball.
- Potential Energy: Stored energy. example: A ball at the top of a hill (gravitational potential) or a stretched rubber band (elastic potential).
- Chemical Energy: Energy stored in things like food or batteries. Examples include the energy in firewood, petrol, and coal.
- Heat energy (Thermal): energy from warmth. Example: Heat from a fire. Other examples include heat from the sun, a stove, or a radiator.
- Light Energy (Radiant): Energy from light, like sunlight. Examples include light from a bulb, a torch, and a candle.
- Electrical Energy: Energy from electricity. Examples include electricity powering a fan,a television,and a computer.
- Nuclear Energy: Powerful energy from atoms. example: Energy in power plants. It is indeed also used in medical treatments and scientific research.
- Sound Energy: Energy from sounds. Examples include music from a speaker, noise from a car, and sound from a musical instrument.
