- Gano jigo da manufar rubutu (main idea/message).
- Fahimtar ma’anar kalma a mahalli, ba kalma kaɗai ba (context).
- Zaɓen kalmomi masu dacewa da salo da yanayin rubutu (register).
- Tsara jimloli a harshen da ake fassara zuwa, ba kwaikwayon tsari kai tsaye ba idan zai bata ma’ana.

Ire-iren fassara
The following are ire-iren fassara:
- Fassara baƙi da baƙi (literal translation): fassara a tsanake bisa rubutun asali ba tare da yawan ‘yanci ba.
- Fassara kalma da kalma (word-for-word): fassara kowane kalma kai tsaye; tana iya bata ma’ana idan an yi ba tare da la’akari da mahalli ba.
- Fassara mai ‘yanci (free translation): fassara saƙo da ma’ana cikin ‘yanci, a rubuta ta yadda za ta yi ma’ana a harshen da ake fassara zuwa.
Fassara ta’kaitattun bayanai
Fassara ta’kaitattun bayanai ita ce fassara gajerun bayanai ko takaitaccen rubutu cikin sauƙi da bayyana saƙo.
