Internet browsers are software programs used to access and view websites on the internet. They help us search for information, open web pages, and watch videos online.

These are different internet browsers used on computers and mobile phones:

  1. Google Chrome
  2. Mozilla Firefox
  3. Microsoft Edge
  4. Safari
  5. Opera
  6. Brave
  7. Internet Explorer
  8. UC Browser
  9. Vivaldi
  10. Tor Browser

Browsers help us do many things when we go online. The following are some functions of internet browsers:

  1. Open and view websites
  2. Download and upload files
  3. Watch videos and listen to music
  4. Save favorite websites as bookmarks
  5. Browse in private mode
  6. Use add-ons or extensions
  7. manage passwords
  8. Block pop-up ads
  9. Translate web pages
  10. Inspect website code

Types of Web Browsers

A web browser is software used to request, display and interact with web pages. Examples include Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari and Opera. A search engine is a service used inside a browser; it is not the same thing as the browser.

Browsers provide access to the useful services of the internet and may include tabs, bookmarks, downloads, privacy controls and history. Learners should use safe-search settings where provided, avoid unknown downloads and never enter passwords on a suspicious page.
