Types of Poor Nutrition (Malnutrition)
Poor nutrition can manifest in different forms, including:
- Under-nutrition: This results from insufficient intake of food or specific nutrients. It includes:
- Undernutrition: Not consuming enough calories or protein.
- Micronutrient deficiencies: Lack of essential vitamins and minerals (e.g., iron, iodine, Vitamin A).
- Wasting: Low weight for height, indicating recent rapid weight loss.
- Stunting: Low height for age, indicating chronic under-nutrition.
