Lesson Content/Board Summary

Word Processing

Loading a Word Processor

Loading a word processor means starting or opening the program on a computer so that documents can be created or edited. It is the first step before any work can be done.

The following are steps for loading a word processor:

  1. Click on the Start button on the taskbar.
  2. Select All Programs or All Apps.
  3. Locate and click on Microsoft Office (or other word processing software).
  4. Click on Microsoft Word to open the application.
  5. Wait for the word processor window to appear.
Exiting a Word Processor

Exiting a word processor means closing the program when work is completed. It ensures that all changes made are saved before closing.

The following are steps for exiting a word processor:

  1. Click on the File tab on the menu bar.
  2. Select Exit or Close from the menu.
  3. If there are unsaved changes, a prompt will appear asking if you want to save.
  4. Choose Save, Don’t Save, or Cancel as needed.
Creating a File in a Word Processor

The following are steps for creating a new file:

  1. Click on the File tab.
  2. Select New from the menu.
  3. Choose Blank Document or any available template.
  4. A new document window will open for typing and editing.
