This involves a receiving antenna picking up the radio waves, tuning to the desired frequency, amplifying the weak signal, and demodulating it to extract the original information.

Principles of Radio Transmission

The basic principles of radio transmission involve several key stages:

  • Information Signal: The original information (e.g., voice) is converted into an electrical signal by a microphone.
  • Carrier Wave Generation: A high-frequency alternating current (AC) signal, called the carrier wave, is generated.
  • Modulation: The information signal is combined with the carrier wave in a process called modulation. This modifies a characteristic (amplitude, frequency, or phase) of the carrier wave according to the information signal.
  • Amplification: The modulated signal is amplified to increase its power.
