The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) is a vital security agency in Nigeria responsible for managing custodial and non-custodial services and ensuring the safety and rehabilitation of inmates.

What is the NCoS?

The NCoS is a government agency overseeing the governance of custodial centres across nigeria. It plays a crucial role in maintaining law and order by safely detaining convicted criminals and providing rehabilitation opportunities.

Duties of NCoS officers

The duties of NCoS officers are varied and essential for the effective operation of correctional facilities.
the following are duties of NCoS officers:

  1. custody of Inmates: Safekeeping of inmates, preventing escapes.
  2. Rehabilitation: Providing educational programs, vocational training, and counseling to help inmates reintegrate into society.
  3. protection: Ensuring humane treatment and meeting the basic needs of inmates.
  4. Transportation: Safely transporting inmates to and from courts.
  5. Security: Maintaining order and preventing disturbances within custodial centres.
  6. Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of inmates, including their sentences, behavior, and medical history.

Mode of dressing of NCoS officers
