Arms Of Government: Meaning And Divisions

Government is a system through which a country is managed. It is indeed responsible for making and enforcing laws.

Divisions of government:

The three divisions of government are:

  1. Executive: implements and enforces laws.
  2. Legislative: Makes the laws.
  3. Judiciary: Interprets and applies the laws.

Each arm of government works independently yet cooperatively to maintain order and justice in the country.



The Three Arms of Government

Government power is commonly divided among the legislature, executive and judiciary. The legislature makes laws, the executive implements laws and policies, and the judiciary interprets laws and settles disputes.

The arms have different functions but must cooperate within the constitution. Division of power helps prevent one institution from controlling every public decision.
