Agricultural marketing involves all the activities required to move farm produce from the farm to the final consumer. These activities ensure that the produce reaches the consumer in the right form, at the right time, and at the right place. Some key activities include:
- Harvesting – gathering the mature crops from the field.
- Sorting – Separating produce based on quality, size, and type.
- Grading – Classifying produce into different grades based on established standards.
- Packaging – Preparing produce for transportation and sale by placing it in appropriate containers.
- Transportation – moving the produce from the farm to the market or processing center.
- Storage – Preserving the produce to prevent spoilage and maintain quality.
- Processing – Transforming raw farm produce into more usable forms (e.g., milling grains).
