Sheikh Uthman Dan Fodio, whose full name was Uthman ibn Fudi, was a renowned Islamic scholar, reformer, and the founder of the Sokoto Caliphate in present-day Nigeria. He was born in 1754 in Degel, Gobir, in what is now Sokoto State.

1. Early Life and Education: He received extensive Islamic education from his father and other prominent scholars, specializing in Maliki fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Arabic language, Hadith, and Tafsir (Qur’anic exegesis).
