Lesson Content
Word Processing Skills: Saving
Saving is a word processing function that preserves your work in computer memory, preventing loss if the computer shuts down. Saving a document is like keeping a copy of your work. Regular saving is crucial to avoid losing your work.
How to Save a Document:
Saving a document involves a series of steps to ensure your work is preserved.
the following are the steps to save a document:
- Click on the “File” menu.
- Select “Save As.”
- Choose a save location (e.g., desktop, documents folder, or USB drive).
- Name the document in the file name box.
- Click “Save.”
Saving, Save As and Version Checks
Save updates the current file. Save As creates another file or changes the name, folder or format. Use Save As when keeping both an original and a revised version, then open the saved file once to confirm it is complete.
Do not rely only on an open screen. Use a clear version name, save to authorised storage and keep a backup of important work.
