Meaning of Computer Hardware

Internal Hardware Components

Key internal hardware components include:

  1. Motherboard: The main circuit board that connects all other components.
  2. Central Processing Unit (CPU): The “brain” of the computer that performs calculations and executes instructions.
  3. Memory (RAM and ROM): Stores data and instructions temporarily or permanently.
  4. Hard Drive/Solid State Drive: Stores all data and programs permanently.
  5. Power Supply Unit (PSU): Provides electrical power to all components.

Memory

Memory is where the computer stores information for quick access.

Central Processing Unit (CPU)

The CPU is the primary component of a computer that performs most of the processing inside the computer. It executes instructions and processes data.
